Tips on Proper Pool Maintenance

Having a pool provides one a number of great benefits. Besides the "fun" and "bonding" moments that it offers, it also promotes fitness and health due to its "exercising" advantages. That is, if it is kept clean. However, pool maintenance is not such an easy job; in fact, it can even be more complicated than cleaning any other part of the house. Here is a list of tasks needed for this along with some information on how to do it properly, which you might find useful.

First on the line is the deck and cover cleaning. For this, sweep all leaves and dirt on the deck away from the pool and scrub it thoroughly. Also, be sure to take out as much debris from the cover before removing it. After which, see to it that you place it at a clean spot, or else, it will drag dirt and mud into the pool when you put it back in place.

Second, perform surface skimming, a task by which you are required to remove dirt floating on the water surface. There is no particular method for this; however, you will need certain tools such as leaf rakes and net poles. For scum dirt, you can use tile soap to gather it on the edges of the pool making it easier for you to skim off.

Next, your pool will then need a thorough brushing. For this, be sure to check all corners and edges of the pool for any algae formation. If you spot one, remove it immediately using a scrub and purposely designed liquid cleaners. Finally, after all the cleaning processes are done, you will then need to test the water for levels of chlorine residues, pH, alkalinity, acidity, calcium hardness, as well as total dissolved solids.
