Creating and Maintaining a Bog Garden

Be sure to leave a good deal of excess plastic along the edges so there is something to hold the moist. It may be trimmed once the soil has settled. Thereafter, you can add ¼ sand and ¾ peat moss, both of which should be dampened and mixed thoroughly.

Winter and Spring Cleaning – It is best to tolerate dry leaves during the frosty season and skip some maintenance tasks such as cleaning up dead foliage so the greens would not grow thinner. Once the snow starts to melt, there is nothing much to do during this time except to remove leaf debris. Also, do not forget to replant those that have heaved from the cold months.

General Maintenance Tips – Although constant saturation is not necessary, it is important not to allow the soil mix to dry out. For your convenience and to deliver efficient irrigation, install soaker hoses just three inches below the surface and 2 feet apart from each other.
